Grants Funding

Our grant programme supports activities with one of the following aims:

  • To support local people to reduce their energy use (e.g. their use of electricity or gas)
  • To support local people in moving toward cleaner renewable sources of energy
  • To support local people to take measures that ensure they can afford to meet their energy needs

The grant programme can support all costs relating to your project or activity, including: core costs (e.g. staff, office costs), project costs (e.g. venue hire, project worker) and capital costs (can support the cost of a renewable installation).

Our small and large grants are coming back soon! Make sure you submit your application before the deadline.

Who can apply?

Bristol Community Energy Fund grants are targeted at small organisations with charitable aims that are based and working in the Bristol area. You do not have to be an energy or environmental group. We welcome applications from other types of community groups that would like to carry out an energy related project.

When considering applications from energy or environmental groups, the grant programme will prioritise projects led by those communities who are most affected by energy issues, such as fuel poverty, or those groups who are underrepresented in the energy movement, e.g. older people, disabled people, BME and migrant communities. We request that any communication materials used as part of your group’s project/activity are accessible to disabled individuals.

How to apply?

Bristol Community Energy Fund grants are coming back! Building on the huge success of our first three rounds, we’ve been working really hard to improve the funding application process. Our fourth round of grant funding will kick off in the coming months.

For more information you can download our full funding guidelines and read some common questions on our FAQs page.

Who decides which applications get funded?

We’ve established a diverse panel of people who assess the applications for Bristol Community Energy Fund grants. Our panel is made up of representatives from Bristol City Council, Bristol Energy Network, Quartet Community Foundation and the Centre for Sustainable Energy as well as community representatives. See our panel member bios for more information.
